I want to live in a world where everyone is doing something that makes them feel fully alive.
It’s as simple as that. And as complicated. Unless we are supremely talented at something at a young age or we find our obsession, we’re not taught how to figure out what’s meaningful to us. How to ask the right questions to get to the right answers. Instead we’re taught to toe the line: do well in school, go to a good university, get a good job, work 5 days a week for 8-10 hour days, save money, take vacations when you can, have a nest egg, buy a house and a car. And when you retire, then you’ll be able to do what you want. Well, that’s all fine and good, but that doesn’t prepare us for when we do all of that, and we find ourselves feeling dissatisfied. When we have the realization that we’re stuck in a rut; that something is missing from our life, but we have no idea what or how to go about finding out.
Life Work
To live our lives wholeheartedly, we must do both what we have to do and what we want to do, with purpose and awareness. I believe the way this is possible is to find and do our life work. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines life work as “the entire or principal work of one’s lifetime”. I think that’s what the missing piece is. Especially as, the way I see it, your life work is the activity that engages all of you – mind, body, and soul. In finding our life work, we cultivate the skill of being present each day, and we learn to make deliberate choices, which allows us to freely give what we can to the people and the things with which we fill our days. By doing our life work, we give ourselves the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to connect to ourselves and others, over and over again. We take back the control we’ve given away (to other people, to the stories we’ve been told or that we tell ourselves, to meet societal standards in which we had no say, etc.). We choose to use our skills, abilities, and strengths in the best, and most effective, way. Ultimately, we gain something which fulfills a core need in us to contribute who we are as individuals to the world in a meaningful (to us) way.
What I do
I help you define your life work and I help you figure out how to factor that activity into your current life. Whether that activity involves a change in career, a change in job position in your company or industry, or a pursuit outside of work will depend solely on you and what you need.
This process involves digging deep. I provide a safe and non-judgmental place in which to get to your truth and the support and encouragement to start living it.
Do you want to feel:
- Immediate relief at knowing you’ve taken the first step to finding your meaningful life work and that you will be supported through the whole process?
- Increasing happiness and satisfaction as you move into fully living your life?
- More control over how you spend your time and effort?
- More energy and less stress because doing what fulfills you recharges you?
Yes? Then contact me to see if we’re a good fit. We’ll have a chat. I’ll ask questions, you’ll ask questions and if we mesh, we can work together!
Still need convincing?
This is for you if:
- You’re a working professional in the corporate world and
- On paper, it looks like you have everything going for you: a good job, a good life outside of work, and disposable income, but
- You feel stuck and you want to get rid of that feeling in a healthy, empowering way and
- You’re ready to gain clarity and make the necessary changes.
Why should you trust me?
I’ve been exactly where you are. I was doing well at a good job, I had financial security, I hung out with friends and family on the weekends, and bought stuff I liked. In general, I had a good life. But, every so often, when I let myself think about it, I thought “Is this it?” Every so often, I’d be exposed to people who seemed to be living life with passion and energy and I’d feel envious. Maybe they had a hobby that totally excited them or they had fallen into their dream career because of something at which they excelled. I’d feel this heaviness knowing I didn’t have that. Then life would go on, until another trigger, or a quiet moment would leave me feeling dissatisfied. Finally, I reached my breaking point. I had to do something that makes me feel excited and fulfilled. Now that I’ve found it, I want to help you get the same thing.
